In short
This website uses no tracking or statistics and loads no external fonts, maps or scripts. Everything you see comes from our own server. It sets one functional cookie, and only when you choose a language with the language switcher.
Who is responsible

As this website is also aimed at visitors from the European Union, we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies.
Hosting and server log files
The website runs on servers of Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland, which acts as our hosting provider and processes data on our behalf. When you open a page, the server automatically records technical data in log files: IP address, date and time, requested page and browser information. We need this to deliver the website securely and to keep it running; we use it for nothing else. The provider keeps the files only for a limited time. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and stable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Language
When you open samobor-guide.com without choosing a language, the server shows the Croatian version to visitors from Croatia and the English version to everyone else. For this, it compares the country of your IP address with a list of Croatian address ranges. The IP address is only compared in memory and is not stored by the website. If you choose a language with the language switcher, a cookie named “sprache” (value “en” or “hr”) remembers your choice for one year. The cookie is purely functional. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing the website in the right language (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Directions in Google Maps
The “Directions” buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to Google while you read this website. Only when you tap a Directions button does your browser or the Google Maps app open, and Google’s privacy policy applies from then on.
Phone and e-mail links
“Call” buttons and e-mail links open the app on your device. We only receive what you send us yourself.
Request a quote
On listings whose business has claimed them, you can send a request with a form. We process your name, e-mail address, phone number (optional) and message, and forward them by e-mail to the business, which answers you under its own responsibility. You receive a confirmation e-mail. For protection against spam, we keep your IP address only as a keyed, irreversible code for 2 days. The message is not stored on the web server; the e-mails remain in the mailboxes of the business and of our mail provider. A copy of the e-mails that this website sends is also delivered to the operator, for quality control and to prevent misuse. Legal basis: your request to be put in contact with the business (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in preventing misuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Add or claim your listing
With a form, businesses can add a listing or claim an existing one. Every listing is checked by Samobor Guide before it is published. The short description is translated automatically into the other language by the AI of Infomaniak (data centres in Switzerland), and the listing is then published in English and Croatian. The name and e-mail address of the contact person are not published.
We process the business name, category, address, town, phone and website (optional), the short description, the name and e-mail address of the contact person (used for the confirmation, the review and questions) and the date of your consent. The IP address is kept only as a keyed code for 2 days (spam protection). Recipients: the operator for the review, and Infomaniak Network SA (Switzerland) as processor for the automatic translation. Storage: on the server outside the website. Rejected and unprocessed submissions are deleted after 90 days; for approved listings, the name and e-mail address of the contact person are removed after 90 days. The published listing stays online until the business asks for a change or removal. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
Latest news from businesses
Businesses with a Featured listing can submit short posts. Every post is checked by Samobor Guide before it is published. Title and text are translated automatically into the other language by the AI of Infomaniak, so that each post appears in English and Croatian.
We process the title and text of the post, the business name, the e-mail address of the business (for its personal link and notifications) and the date. Recipients: the operator for the review, Infomaniak Network SA (Switzerland) as processor for the translation, and, once published, everyone who visits the website. Storage: on the server outside the website. Removed or rejected posts are deleted after 90 days; published posts stay on the server until the business removes them and are shown on the website only while Featured is active. Legal basis: the agreement with the business for its Featured listing (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Online payment for Featured
Featured listings are paid online with a personal payment link, by card or other payment methods. The payment page is provided by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Ireland, and Stripe, Inc., USA); your card details never reach our server. Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy (opens in a new window)), and data can be transferred to the USA under the safeguards described there. Our server stores only the payment reference, package, amount and period – not the name or e-mail address of the person who pays. Legal basis: performance of the agreement with the business (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Cookies
The only cookie is the functional language cookie “sprache” described above. We use no advertising, tracking or statistics cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a common format and to withdraw a consent at any time. Write to info@samobor-guide.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch (opens in a new window)), in Croatia the Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP, azop.hr (opens in a new window)).
