Start on the square
The heart of Samobor is its main square, Trg kralja Tomislava, with cafés and pastel houses all around. Start with a coffee and a slice of kremšnita, the cream cake the town is known for.
Walk up to the old castle
Above the town, the ruins of Samobor’s old castle, Stari grad, stand in the woods. Go in the late afternoon, when the light gets soft.
Follow the Gradna
The Gradna stream runs right through the town. A promenade follows the water, past small bridges and gardens.
See a museum or a gallery
Three places for a rainy hour, all listed in the directory. Opening hours change, so please call ahead.
Head into the hills
The Samobor hills start at the edge of town: beech woods, mountain huts and long views.
Taste something to take home
Bermet, an aromatic aperitif wine, and muštarda, Samobor’s mustard, are the classic souvenirs.
